Mediation
About Me – Judith Foxton
With over two decades of experience in Human Resources (HR), I have worked across various sectors including retail, leisure and hospitality, legal, facilities, and charities.
I live with my partner, children and two rescue dogs— each day is a negotiation.
I have been an active trustee of a mental health charity for the last 22 years, I have counselling qualifications and I’m a mental -health first aider.
My Approach to Mediation - Outline of available steps:
• Management/HR Conversations: Speak with management / HR, remotely or face-to-face, to get a full understanding of the background circumstances and the organisation’s viewpoint.
• Individual Conversations: Speak with the individual parties, remotely or face-to-face. I am comfortable with home visits or neutral locations and can involve family members if it increases trust and participation. Setting boundaries and managing expectations are needed at this stage.
• Personality Profiling (optional): Utilise i3 profiling to understand personality traits,
communication styles, and preferred environments that might contribute to conflict.
This tool helps in identifying underlying issues. Home - i3 Profiling
• Expression of Wish Letter (optional): Support individuals in writing letters to the other party, expressing how actions have affected them while focusing on the future without placing blame. This can be a powerful step before any meeting but is not always suitable.
• Way Forward Workshop: Conduct a session with all parties to find a way forward. This workshop is flexible, with objectives tailored to the issue at hand.
• Commitment Charter: Once a resolution is agreed upon, co-author a document outlining the commitment from all parties. This is the stage that cements that need for mutual respect, even if the parties agree to disagree.
• Check-In Accountability Workshops (optional): Structured, all party follow-up meetings to openly discuss positives, negatives and tweak the Commitment Charter if necessary. Any ongoing issues are addressed.
• Management/HR de-brief: Meet with management / HR to confirm the issues that have and the outcome. This includes discussing anything that has arisen that may pose a risk.
